Hello Again Blogging World!!!

Well hello there, Blogging world! It's been quite some time since we've last seen each other, and it's so good to be back.  My name is Rachel and some of you, if you were one of the lucky fifteen followers, may remember my very short-lived attempt at this back in 2010.  I've grown up since then.  Hopefully matured a bit, and developed some new interests to share with all of you.  This blog will focus on three them: knitting, spinning, and motherhood, though not necessarily in that order.

Why am I doing this?  When I tried my hand at blogging the first time, I was a humble grad school student who thought that it was trendy and might look good on my resume.  Now I've decided to take this seriously,  without any ulterior motive.  Instead, I'm hoping to use this to document my journey into exploring the world around me and to be able to reflect on all that I see and learn, especially in the world of knitting and spinning.

Why would you want to read this? I'm hoping that you would find this entertaining and a wee bit informative.  It would be great to feel as though as I'm learning, you are learning too.  You will most likely learn throughout this blog that if I choose to do something one way, you should probably not ever attempt it using my method or logic.

While this blog will mostly be focused on my adventures with knitting, spinning and motherhood, I probably will through in other snippets from my life as well.  In addition to my previously mentioned affections, I am also an avid lover of history who happens to live in New England.  There really aren't many places in this country that offer as much historical treasure as this area does.  I'm also really taken with genealogy and have spent a good amount of time researching my family tree.

Hopefully, you haven't been turned off already by my introductory ramblings.  I hope to see you next time...

My name is Rachel and I am a sock knitter. Though it's amazing to me that I know how to knit at all. Ten Years?!?!?

 Wow....it's been 10 years (almost exactly) since I've last posted here. Does anyone even write blogs anymore? Ah, well, even if no one writes or reads them anymore, I'll still add to this. It can be for me; a reminder of who I was at different times. Like a digital time capsule. I've been away from knitting and crocheting for a number of years. During that time, I had dabbled a bit in cross stitch, sewing, jewelry making, watercolor, drawing, etc. My daughter has just gotten me back into crochet (still not knitting), and though it's only been a month, I have a number of projects started and already a couple of blankets completed. It's been the perfect stress reliever at a very difficult time.  The below is the first finished project of this new crochet age. I made it for Bau who is returning back to the US this week.
