The Lonely St. Patrick's Day Sock
For the last two weeks, I've been concentrating on trying to knit a pair of festive socks to wear on my favorite holiday of all, St. Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, after these two weeks, I have yet to finish the first sock. Normally I am not this slow a knitter. I've been able to crank out a pair of socks in two weeks. For example, I managed this when hurrying to finish the gift I had made for my father-in-law prior to the birth of my daughter.
It's not the sock's fault that I haven't been able to finish it yet. Nor is it the yarn. The yarn is beautiful and I have been nothing but excited to work on this project. In fact, all I've dreamed about for this holiday is being able to run around in two matching St. Paddy's Day socks. No, instead there are two things I am blaming for this. The first is just not feeling like I've been able to get virtually any knitting time in. Between the crazy hectic work schedule, the kids, and the horrific stomach flu that came in and has been shared around the family this week, there has been very little time at the end of the night to try to get anything other than a couple of rounds in. The other thing I blame for this sorry sock state is my extraordinarily large size 12 feet. Trying to knit socks for my feet does not really seem like an efficient or practical use of my limited knitting time, but I do so love wearing hand knit socks. This is definitely one of those times where I wish I had been born with dainty little size 7 or 8 feet.
I just feel really for the sock. No matter how much effort I will try to put in this weekend, there is no way I'm going to be able to finish that second sock. Poor lonely St. Patrick's Day sock. Maybe next year. :(
What I'm Working On:
Simple vanilla stockinette ankle sock, worked from cuff down. Cast on 72 stitches on double pointed needles. The yarn is St. Patrick's Day 2015 from Muststash yarns.
